Colour Palette

Matching frames to specific colours in your space is a great way to make sure it looks amazing in your home. Try isolating either colours in your furniture, rug or small decor elements and buying frames in that colour palette.

Style

How would you describe your style, is your space, bohemian, modern, Scandinavian, traditional? If you’re stumped scroll through Pinterest to find spaces you like. You can then find keywords to describe your space such as “transitional” and find frame style inspiration. If you’re going for a modern or minimalist look, a simple black or metal frame is a great choice. For traditional or farmhouse spaces, wood frames are perfect.

Size

When choosing a frame size, consider several things. First, where is it being hung? If it’s in a small space, you may want to forgo the mat, but if it needs to fill up a larger area, perhaps go for an oversized frame with a thick mat, or a pair of several small pieces. If you’re hanging the piece over a piece of furniture, try to remember to keep the frame around 2/3 the size of that furniture.

Subject Matter

Depending on what you’re framing, the frame will need to change. If you’re framing a small object, a shadow box frame is a great idea, if you’re framing your child’s award, a plaque mounted piece might be a better fit.  If you’re framing a family painting or artwork, a glass frame may be preferable, scroll through our framing options and decide the frame type based on the object you're framing.
